Donations

The Warwick Community Van meets the needs of the community in many ways. We accept all kinds of donations so just ring Catherine on 0409 894 908 to check if your donation is suitable. Here are some examples of donations we can use to help our clients. These items do not have to be expensive and home brand is perfectly fine.

Food items we can accept:

  • Fruit and veggies that have been washed and are fresh.
  • High risk foods* in sealed packets with purchase history e.g. cheese purchased that day and brought straight to community van fridge. Meat donated straight from a butcher.
  • Long life items from, but not limited to, the following list:
  • Tinned foods e.g. Beans,  corn,  pineapple.
  • Pasta sauce,  tomato paste,  tinned tomatoes
  • Pasta,    Rice,   Cake mixes
  • Spices
  • Ice cream cones
  • Corn chips
  • Long life products that are past their best before such as pasta, tinned products, rice. We are allowed to use items past their best before by law.

Food items we cannot accept:

  • Food past their use by dates
  • Fridge items from people’s homes as we cannot be sure they have been kept at the right temperature.
  • Meat items that are unlabelled e.g. Meat in zip lock bags or meat that has no use by date on packet.
  • Any Pork, bacon or other pig products
  • Any shellfish products
  • High risk foods that have been cooked at home. Cooking should be completed in set out kitchen.
  • Opened packets of any food or food with damaged packets.
  • Home laid eggs (by law we cannot accept them)

The following items are given out at the van to our clients.

General items

  • Warm blankets and sleeping bags
  • Good clean clothing with no stains or holes.
  • Shoes in good condition, not super worn or falling apart.
  • Scarves, gloves and beanies
  • Children’s clothing of all sizes.

Hygiene items

  • Toothbrushes
  • Hairbrushes
  • Razors
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Soap
  • Hair ties
  • Roll on deodorant
